When ITF was first established, the company’s first training mission came in the form of a donation to the Jamaica Fire Brigade. The training was so substantial and so instrumental in making the difference for so many JFB firefighters that the then Commissioner Frederick Whyte, made sure to budget for additional training that same year. Below is a partial list of training contracts that ITF has garnered during the past 18 years. All IFTF/ITF instructors are certified instructors.
Instructor II (40 hours)
Prerequisite: Instructor I
Applicable Certification level: Instructor II
Description: The emphasis of the Instructor II course is on teaching formalized lessons from materials prepared by the instructor, including relating information from one lesson or class to the next. Coverage includes: writing performance objectives, developing lesson plans, preparing instructional materials i.e. power point presentations, constructing evaluation devices, demonstrating selected teaching methods, completing training records and reports, and identifying reference resources.
*Instructor III (80 hours)
Prerequisite: Instructor II
Applicable Certification level: Instructor III Certificate of Completion & Fire Officer II Certificate of Completion
The Instructor III course provides training for instructors in the preparation of formalized courses, tests, evaluations, and associated instructional materials. Subject materials include but are not limited to: occupational analysis techniques, technical writing, instructional materials development, writing tests and other evaluation instruments, and developing training records and reports.

Courses can be customized to meet the municipality’s requirements. Accelerated courses are generally developed to meet specific client-generated requests. Development of a customized/accelerated course entails selecting specific classes/lessons from a variety of courses; the combination of the selected classes/lessons results in the design of a unique course that meets the needs of the request.
*Vertical Rescue II - High Angle Rescue Techniques (40 hours)
Prerequisite: Vertical Rescue I - Ropes & Rigging
Applicable Certification level: Rescue Specialist II - Vertical High Angle
Description: This course concerns rescues involving elevation differences. The class covers fixed and floating brake rappels, transfer of personnel from one line onto a second line, and patient movement in litter systems. The students will construct and operate mechanicaladvantage systems, belay and safety systems, anchor systems using accepted vertical rescue practices. The physics and dynamics of rescue systems will be explored. Practical evolutions will include lowering and hauling systems in simulated rescue situations. Written and practical skill examinations will be administered at the completion of the course.
Hazardous Materials Awareness (8 Hours)
Applicable Certification Level: Hazardous Materials Awareness Certificate of Completion
Desciption: This course will provide first responders with the knowledge and skills to: Understand what hazardous substances are and the risk associated with them in an incident; Recognize the presence of hazardous substances in an emergency; Understand therole of the emergency responder at the awareness level, including site security and control; Have understanding of the U.S. Department of Transportation Emergency Response Guidebook; Realize the need for additional resources, and to make appropriate notifications to the community.
Applicable Certification Level: Roadway Extrication Specialist Certificate of Completion
Desciption: The Roadway Extrication course is designed to acquaint the inexperienced firefighter with techniques used in Auto Extrication. Of the 40 hours, 32 hours will be spentworking with the various extrication equipment and tools. Emphasis will be on safety,functions of the tools, and different techniques to remove victims from auto accidents.All students will be required to furnish protective clothing. A list of acceptablealternatives will be provided with the confirmation letter to the students admitted to the class.
Applicable Certification Level: Fire Prevention Officer
Desciption: The Fire Prevention Principles course covers materials in the areas of fire inspection, fire investigation, and fire cause determination. Inspection topics include: laws of the authority having jurisdiction, codes, ordinances, life safety code applications, building construction, occupancy, and inspection techniques, installed systems and water supply. Fire investigation concentrates on determining cause and point of origin.
*Instructor I (40 hours)
Applicable Certification Level: Fire Officer I
Description: The Instructor I course is designed to give the student the knowledge and ability to teach from prepared materials which are predominantly skills oriented. Areas covered include: communication, concepts of learning, human relations in the teaching-learning environment, methods of teaching, organizing the learning environment, records and reports, testing and evaluation, instructor's roles and responsibilities, teaching techniques, and use of instructional materials to fulfill the lesson’s objective.

*Municipality Emergency Response to Terrorism: Basic Awareness Concepts(16 hours)
Description: The primary target audience for this course includes three groups of people: Fire Service Personnel, Emergency Medical Services Responders, and Hazardous-Material Responders. In addition, this course is designed to benefit: Law Enforcement Personnel,Emergency Communications Personnel, Public Works Management, Public Health Workers, Armed Forces, Reserves, and National Guard, Disaster Response Agencies.This program is designed to help responders to recognize and understand acts of Terrorism, both domestic and international. It will provide responders with knowledge on implementing self-protective measures, scene security and tactical considerations whendealing with terrorism. Explosives, chemical, radiological and etiological types of harm shall be discussed. This class will also give the responders an overview of the incident command structure and their role within a mass casualty disaster involving a multi-jurisdictional command system.
*Vertical Rescue III - Advanced High Angle Rescue (54 hours)
Prerequisite: Vertical Rescue II - High Angle Rescue Completion

Description: This is an advanced course which emphasizes team development and team management. Advanced vertical rescue skills will be introduced. The student will participate in team applications of vertical rescue skills in simulated rescue situations. Practical evolutions will include rescues from vessels, confined space, towers, structural, industrial and agricultural environments. Written and practical skill examinations will be administered at the completion of the course.
Management III (40 hours)
Prerequisite: Management I & II
Applicable Certification Level: Fire Officer II Certificate of Completion
Description: The Management III course is designed to provide the Fire Officer, who is in charge of multiple fire companies or stations, with information and skills in officer supervision and administrative functions. Subject areas covered will include: planning and decision- making, finance and budgeting, inventory, risk management, public relations and the news media.
Management IV (40 hours)
Prerequisite: Management I & II
Applicable Certification Level: Fire Officer II Certificate of Completion
Description: The Management IV course is designed to provide the Fire Officer, who is in charge of multiple fire companies or stations, with information and skills in personnel management. Subject areas covered will include the role and function of the Fire Officer II, introduction to Total Quality Management, performance evaluation, interviewing techniques, labor relations and collective bargaining, fire officer liability, and team building for better performance.
*Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations Level (40 hours)
Prerequisite: Hazardous Materials Awareness
Applicable Certification Level: Confined Space/Trench Rescue Awareness Certificate of Completion
Description: The Hazardous Materials First Responder/Operations Level course provides to those personnel, who are or will be operating as a member of a fire department, the basic skills needed to evaluate and work defensively at an incident involving the release of hazardous materials.
The objectives of the course are to teach participants: Knowledge of basic hazard and risk-assessment techniques; Knowledge of selecting and using proper personal protective equipment provided to the first responder operational level; Knowledge of performing basic control, containment and/or confinementoperations within the capabilities of the resources and personal protective equipment available; Understanding of the relevant standard operating guidelines and termination procedures.
Confined Space / Trench Rescue Awareness (8 hours)
Applicable Certification Level: Confined Space/Trench Rescue Awareness Certificate of Completion
Description: This course will provide the first responders with the knowledge to identify confinedspace and trench rescue situations, and the hazards associated with them. The Authorityhaving jurisdiction regulations, which govern emergency response to these rescuesituations, will be covered. Discussion will identify the equipment and training needed toperform these types of rescues. Review of rescue situations and the action taken will bediscussed.
The training fees will be determined by the particular courses chosen. Payment must be received prior to the beginning of each class. Wire transfer is the preferred mode of payment, cashiers checks will be accepted made payable to the order of International Training Force.
Management I (40 hours)
Prerequisite: Fire Officer I Certificate of Completion
Applicable Certification level: Fire Officer II Certificate of Completion (After MGMT IV)
The Management I course is designed to provide the Fire Officer, who is in charge of a single fire company or station, with information and skills in supervisory practices and personnel management. Subject areas covered will include: the role and function of the Company Fire Officer, basic management principles and concepts, leadership, motivation, order giving, and conflict resolution, discipline.
*Management II (40 hours)
Prerequisite: Management I
Applicable Certification Level: Fire Officer II Certificate of Completion (After MGMT IV)
The Management II course is designed to provide the Fire Officer, who is in charge of a single fire company or station, with information and developmental skills in personnel management. This course provides coverage in the areas of basics of communications, report writing, interpersonal communication, group dynamics, coaching and counseling skills, and performance appraisal.
*Hazardous Materials Technician Module A (40 hours) and Module B (40 hours)

Description: The Hazardous Materials Technician course provides those personnel who are or will be operating as a member of a hazardous material response team with the basic skills needed to evaluate and mitigate an incident involving the release of hazardous materials.
The objectives of the course are to teach participants: Knowledge of implementation of the Emergency Response Plan. Knowledge of the classification, identification, and verification of known and unknown material by using field-survey instruments and equipment. Being able to function within an assigned role in the Incident Management System. Knowledge of selecting and using the proper specialized chemical personal protective equipment provided to the hazardous material technician. Understanding hazard and risk-assessment techniques. Being able to perform advance control, containment, and/or confinement operations within the capabilities of the resources and personal protective equipment available with the unit.
Understanding and implementing decontamination procedures; Understanding basic chemical and toxicological terminology and behavior. Being able to perform specialized control, containment, and/or confinement operations within the capabilities of the resources and personal protective equipment available. Understanding chemical, radiological, and toxicological terminology and behavior. Having the ability to develop a site safety and control plan. Understanding classification, identification, and verification of known and unknown materials by using advanced survey instruments and equipment.

Description: The Tactics & Strategy II course is designed for the Fire Officer who is responsible for commanding a fire or emergency scene involving multiple companies. Subject areas which will be covered are: strategic concepts in firefighting, duties and responsibilitiesof command officers, incident command system (scene, manpower, and apparatus management), multi-company operations, disasters, high-rise operations, critical incident stress debriefing, and tactical exercises.
*Trench Rescue (24 hours)
Prerequisites: Confined Space/Trench Rescue Awareness
Applicable Certification level: Rescue Specialist/Trench Rescue Certificate of Completion
Description: This course concerns below grade excavation entrapment rescues. The class covers the authority having jurisdiction, use of specialized equipment for atmospheric monitoring,shoring systems, victim excavation, and employment of rescuer constructed retrieval systems. Special emphasis will be given to rescuer safety, and scene evolutions involving various trench rescue problems will be conducted. Written and practical skill testing will be conducted at the completion of the course.

*Emergency Response to Terrorism and Mass Casualty Disasters: Advanced Response (24 hours)
Description: The primary target audience for this course includes three groups of people: Fire Service Personnel, EMS Responders, and Hazardous-Material Responders. In addition, this course is designed to benefit: Law Enforcement Personnel, Emergency CommunicationsPersonnel, Public Works Management, Public Health Workers, Armed Forces, Reserves, Military Guard and Disaster Response Agencies.This training is designed for Technician level responders. It will be a three-day symposium on topics dealing with Terrorism, both domestic and international.
This training will involve both classroom and hands-on activities designed to prepare Technicians to respond to Terrorism Emergencies. Some of the events planned are: Targeted exposures, Demonstrations on incendiary devices, bombs and clandestine druglaboratories, Demonstration on proper tactics and strategy of dealing with chemical, etiological and radiological emergencies; Monitoring and Chemical Protective Clothing; Table-top exercises on incidents involving mass casualty and acts of terrorism; Masscasualty evacuation and decontamination demonstration.
*Hazardous Materials Branch Officer (40 hours)

Description: This class contains the advance skills necessary to make command decisions at an incident involving the release of hazardous materials. Responders will be learning from leaders of the field of emergency response. They will share techniques and skills used to run any type of hazardous incident. As part of the class assignment, participants will develop standard operating guidelines, perform a hazard analysis for a fixed site facility, and operate as command staff for a simulated incident using the material they developed during the week long class.
